What are Caddies?
Our Day Camp program is designed to encourage growth in Leadership through practice. The Caddie Program has been around for about 40 years and the underlying purpose has remained the same. Older Girl Scouts can develop valuable leadership skills used to volunteer at volunteer-led day camps throughout our Council and at other events such as Service Unit Encampments. Caddie Training teaches outdoor skills, outdoor cooking, tent care, songs and games and communication skills. Most importantly they have ‘FUN’.
The pre-requisite for Caddie Training is Program Aid Plus Training. This is for Girl Scouts finishing 6th-12th grade. Girl Scouts only need to take this training once. Listed below are the three levels of Training. Each level teaches different components of outdoor skills.
Junior Caddies – Girl Scouts that have taken Program Aide Plus (Junior Caddie) Training and completed 6th grade and above.
Caddies- Girl Scouts that have completed Program Aide Plus (Junior Caddie), and Caddie Training and have volunteered at a day camp and have completed 7th grade or above. Experienced Caddies may be selected to be a lead caddie for their unit.
Senior Caddies - have completed Program Aide Plus (Junior caddie) and Caddie training, have Caddie experience at Day Camp, and have attended Senior Caddie training. Senior Caddies are leaders among the Caddies and amaze us every year with their responsibility and enthusiasm!
